Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
“GO therefore, make disciples of all nations; baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you” Mt 28:19-20
Stage 4
Period of Mystagogy or Postbaptismal Catechesis (Neophytes)
"Mystagogy means reflecting on the mysteries, to savour the mysteries. Mystagogy is the process wherein we ponder the saving experience of the Holy - in this case through the celebration of the initiation sacraments - in order to understand better who we are and whose we are. No one can truly be touched by the presence of the Holy and not be changed in some ways." [The RCIA process, Transforming The Church by Thomas Morris]
This is also a period where the Neophytes, through the help of their Godparents and the RCIA team, become more integrated with the community. During this period the Neophytes will:
· Meditate on the Gospels readings
· Sharing in the Eucharistic Celebration
· Doing works of Charity
The Mystagogy period usually last for the duration of Easter Season. It could be extended up to the anniversary of initiation.
Thus your journey has NOT ended but a NEW beginning.
