to Family Life! This site is to give you a perspective
of what the Family Life Ministry is all about. It’s
also perhaps a good place to review your family journey…
as members within your own family, and as members of the
greater family of our Lord, regardless of your age or
status in your family. The journey is a challenging one,
but it can be a wonderful experience when we journey together. |

Why
a Family Life Ministry?
Simply because, as Catholics, we are the witnesses of Christ,
and believe in the good and the tangible benefits of
promoting a deeper understanding of ‘Christ Centred
Family Values’ to families
in OLPS” and beyond. This is our mission in Family Life.
How do we go about doing that?
Our vehicle moves on four wheels, and is powered by the Holy
Spirit. As such we are very dependent on our Father. Our being
close to him deepens our personal relationship with him. Only
through this closeness can we truly know HIS WILL, and what
he is saying to us. We do this through dialogue with him,
i.e. through our daily prayer. This is our first wheel.
As we update our skills in our careers, we also need to update
our faith in family life. Talks, Silent Retreats, Bible Study
and spiritual guidance by our spiritual director, Fr Paul
Goh, allow us to keep in touch with the Lord’s words.
However, they all lead back to one source, the BIBLE.
As they say, the ‘Basic Information before Leaving Earth’
is the one true guide to our frequently asked questions on
life. Updating our Faith is thus our second wheel.
Our third wheel is simply putting theory
into practice, knowledge into action, living out our faith.
The act of service, and reaching out to families
within the Catholic community and beyond is the ultimate
imitation of our Lord’s life. As our Servant King served,
we too wish to follow him. Yet, in doing so, we have begun
to realize the transformation these acts have on our very
own lives. How much richer we are for the little that we do!
Finally, our fourth wheel ‘Fellowship’.
The opportunity for us to come together to praise and worship,
to share a meal, share experiences, spend time together in
simple activities, allows the love and the joy of the Lord
to be expressed. As our Father had intended, it allows us
to build and live in a community, where we bond together as
one people. To love one another, as he has loved us.

The
Values we live by
We move along, fuelled by the power of the Holy
Spirit, guiding us in all that we do. But the
values that we try to live by must come through
in our behaviour and our attitude. Through the
spirit, we hope our actions will speak as loud
as words:
1. We walk the talk, live out the words of our
Lord with Commitment
2. In everything we do, no matter its importance,
we do it whole-heartedly, with our mind and heart.
We do it with Passion
3. We act always in Humility,
with a willingness to listen to others first
4. In putting others before ourselves, we believe
we only do unto others what we want others to
do unto us. In truly putting ourselves in another’s
shoe, can we realise true Compassion,
Empathy
5. In respecting
others, we need to respect their time and expectations.
Family Life believes that Punctuality
is a simple but effective way to express that
6.
For the work that Family Life does to have any
impact, we believe we must act Consistently.
There must be Constancy
in our Contribution. Allowing
it to be a way of life.
7. As our Father would want, Family Life believes
that Joy
is contagious. Having
fun in all that we do makes it
so much easier.
8. Lastly, as our Ministry is so named, our priority
is always to Family Life. In our
Faithfulness,
we will see the fruits of the Lord’s blessings

The goals we help families to achieve
• Pray together, and attend mass together
• Are guided by the word of God
• Are blessed with a Faith that deepens daily
• Enjoy family togetherness
• Grows spiritually together
Activities we organise for families in moving towards fulfilling
the needs and goals
• Family Mass - A Family celebration
with a focused theme and homily for the Family on every 2nd
Saturday of the month at 6.30pm
• Family Talks (we should put a regular
factor here like every quarterly)
-To provide information, guidance, knowledge, a platform for
breaching the generation gap, for Parents and children to
see the other’s view, for highlighting different perspective.
• Family Camp/Retreat
- An annual effort to create an opportunity for families to
spend time with each other, revisit family values, reinforce
family ties, simple enjoy each other in the presence of the
Lord
• Lenten Vigil
- To invite families to a time of renewal, of hope and life
and love. To know that our trials and tribulations have meaning
and the opportunity to a new personal beginning with the resurrection
of our Lord
Services we provide, as a form of support for families
• Counselling
- An avenue for reconciliation, for guidance, for assistance

Wedding Preparation
- A helping hand to a new start in life, with a focus on the
wedding in church and the sacrament of Holy Matrimony, and

- A source of support, of faith and the light in the blessings
of a special child
In summary, the Family Life Ministry is made up of a small
group of people, eager to journey in the Lord’s direction
via this ministry. They come together in all shapes and sizes,
with hidden and celebrated talents, at different levels of
faith, to learn, experience and grow. Who know that the challenges
are many, but believe that if we keep our focus, the fruits
will be plentiful.
We are continuously looking to grow the numbers behind this
ministry. Anyone who wants to share their God-given talent,
or who believes in the values, vision

reach out, give back to the community or has simply decided
